What is euandi2022 and how does it work?

euandi2022 is a Voting Advice Application built to help citizens make an informed choice in the 2022 French presidential elections. Available in French and English, euandi2022 invites users to react to 34 statements covering a wide range of contemporary policy issues and political values in French politics. The results show which parties stand closest to citizens’ preferences, also with the help of visual tools that show where the user and the canddiates are placed in the French political landscape.

Data and research

euandi2022 is part of a larger, long-standing academic project on European elections. In 2019, the record number of 1.28 million users was reached. For the third time after the EP elections in 2009 and 2014, this European-wide Voting Advice Application helped citizens find which party best matches their preferences in their country and across Europe. With the aim of extending the scope of the project, euandi has been replicated for the German federal elections 2021, and now for the 2022 French presidential elections. And more national elections will be covered on the road to the 2024 EP elections, so stay tuned!

euandi2022 is designed in order to provide a politically neutral source of information to French voters, detailing candidates’ positions while explicitly not favouring any candidate, political party or coalition. euandi2022 relies on independent academic expertise, it is entirely free and can be used by all interested persons, organizations, or institutions. For more information, see the 'About' and 'Methodology' sections below.

In addition to offering a useful tool to voters (and parties), euandi2022 produces highly relevant scientific data for researchers and practitioners interested in political parties and elections, which is regularly made available to the academic community, in full compliance to privacy standards. For more information about how we treat the data we collect, please see the 'Privacy Statement' and 'Terms and Conditions of Use' sections below.
